Frequently asked
questions
Everything you need to know before your first visit.

Your visit
What should I bring?
A towel (or hire one from us — see below), swimwear, and anything else you'd bring to a swim. Lockers are available for your belongings during the session.
Do I need to bring a towel?
You are welcome to bring your own towel. If you prefer not to, towel hire is available for a small fee.
Can I bring food or drinks?
No outside food or alcohol is permitted. Water is available in the facility, and you are welcome to bring your own still water in a sealed bottle. All food and beverage items must be ordered through us — extras such as a cheese platter or bottle of sparkling can be added to your booking during checkout.
How long is each session?
Each session is 45 minutes. Sessions begin on the hour. The facility is kept deliberately intimate — every visit is unhurried and personal. A back-to-back booking gives you two consecutive sessions — 1 hour 45 minutes in total.
Where are you located?
Rain Day Spa is at 9 Ormond Terrace, Indooroopilly QLD 4068 — nestled among the trees, with every space connected to the surrounding forest. Parking details and full directions are on the Contact page.
Where should I park?
Please park in one of the three parking bays on the left-hand side of Ormond Terrace. If there are no bays available, please park on Kate Street. We ask that you be very mindful of our neighbours in Ormond Terrace and do not block their driveways or access to their properties.
Is the facility accessible?
The facilities are located at the bottom of some stairs and are not wheelchair accessible. If you have specific requirements, please contact us directly and we will do our best to help.
Health & safety
Are there health conditions that prevent me from booking?
Thermal bathing and cold immersion may not be suitable for people with certain cardiovascular conditions, high or low blood pressure, skin conditions, or other medical issues. If you are unsure, please consult your doctor before booking. A health waiver is required at sign-up, and a brief health acknowledgment checkbox is presented at each booking.
Can I use the facility if I am pregnant?
We recommend pregnant guests consult their doctor or midwife before booking. Extended exposure to heat — in both the hydrotherapy spa and the infrared sauna — is generally contraindicated during pregnancy. The ice plunge may also require medical clearance. We cannot accept liability for health outcomes related to use during pregnancy.
Is there a minimum age?
All guests must be 18 years or older. This applies to the account holder and every person included in the session.
What temperatures do the facilities run at?
The hydrotherapy spa is maintained at 38–40 °C. The infrared sauna operates at 45–65 °C — cooler than a traditional sauna, but the heat works differently, penetrating beneath the skin rather than simply heating the air. The ice plunge is maintained at 3–5 °C. These are the regular operating ranges; minor variation is normal.
Do I need to shower before entering?
Yes. Showers are provided and we ask all guests to shower before entering the hydrotherapy spa or sauna. This keeps the water clean for everyone and is standard practice in thermal spa environments.
Booking rules
How do I book a session?
Create a free account, then go to the booking page. Select your booking type (Individual, Couple, or Exclusive), choose a date and time, select your payment method (token or card), and confirm. Your booking is confirmed immediately.
What is the difference between Individual, Couple, and Exclusive?
Individual is for one person. Couple is for two people — the same two people, every time. Exclusive is private hire of the entire facility — the whole space is yours with no other bookings in the building.
What is a back-to-back booking?
A back-to-back is two consecutive sessions — 1 hour 45 minutes total. It costs double the token price (or double the casual rate). You confirm it as a single booking.
How many people can use the facility at once?
The facility has a total capacity of 4 spots per session. An Individual booking uses 1 spot, a Couple booking uses 2 spots, and an Exclusive booking uses all 4 spots. Multiple Individual or Couple bookings can overlap within the 4-spot limit.
Can I book for someone else?
Bookings must be made by the account holder. If you are booking for a couple, you are included as one of the two. Gift cards are available if you want to give someone else the choice of when to come.
Cancellation policy
What is the cancellation window?
You can cancel a booking free of charge up to 24 hours before the session start time. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the session are not eligible for a refund or token return. Bookings that include extras (other than towel hire) have a longer cancellation window, as those items may already be prepared — see your booking confirmation email for the specific deadline that applies to your booking.
What happens if I cancel within the 24-hour window?
Cancellations within 24 hours are treated as no-shows. Tokens are not returned and card payments are not refunded. This policy is stated in your booking confirmation email.
What happens to my token when I cancel outside the 24-hour window?
Your token is returned, but the expiry date is recalculated. The new expiry is whichever is later: the original expiry date, or the cancellation date plus 2 days. This gives you time to choose a new session without losing the token unfairly. Note that a token can only be returned via cancellation once — if the same token is used to book again and that booking is also cancelled, the token is permanently retired and cannot be refunded a second time.
What if I do not show up for my booking?
No-shows are treated identically to a within-24-hour cancellation. Tokens are not returned and card payments are not refunded. We recommend cancelling if you cannot attend — even if it is within the 24-hour window — so that the session is freed for others.
Can I get a refund on a card payment if I cancel early?
If you cancel a card-paid booking more than 24 hours before the session, a refund will be issued to your original payment method. Refunds typically appear within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.
Tokens & memberships
What is a token?
A token is the currency of our membership system. Subscribers receive a set number of tokens each billing period (weekly or monthly) and use them to book sessions. Off-peak sessions cost 1 token; peak sessions cost 2 tokens.
What are peak hours?
Peak hours vary and are managed by us. The current peak schedule is visible on the Memberships page. Sessions outside peak hours cost 1 token; peak sessions cost 2. Contact us if you're unsure which sessions are peak.
Do tokens carry over between periods?
No. Tokens expire at the end of each billing period. Unused tokens from the previous period do not roll over.
Can I buy extra tokens?
Yes. Subscribers can purchase additional tokens of their membership type at any time. Prices are listed on the Memberships page. Additional tokens are valid for 30 days from purchase.
Are Individual, Couple, and Exclusive tokens interchangeable?
No. Each token type is strict — an Individual token can only be used for an Individual booking, a Couple token for a Couple booking, and an Exclusive token for an Exclusive booking. Tokens cannot be converted between types.
What happens to my tokens if I cancel my subscription?
Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period. Tokens already issued for that period remain usable until the period end date. No tokens are issued for the next period.
Advance booking windows
How far in advance can I book?
The advance booking window depends on your booking type — not your membership status. Current booking windows are shown on the booking page. Casual customers have the same windows as subscribers. Contact us if you need further details.
Why does the booking window depend on booking type?
Longer windows reward higher-value bookings that take more capacity. An Exclusive booking reserves the entire facility, so a longer planning horizon is appropriate. Individual bookings turn over more frequently and benefit from a shorter, more dynamic availability window.
Is there a minimum advance booking time?
Yes. Bookings must be made at least a minimum number of hours before the session start time — this prevents last-minute bookings that create operational difficulty. The exact minimum is set in our system and visible on the booking page.
Subscription management
How do I change my plan?
Log in and go to My Subscription. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Changes take effect at the start of the next billing period.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to My Subscription and select Cancel. Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period. No further charges will be made after that date.
Can I pause my subscription?
Yes. You can pause billing for 1 or 3 months from the My Subscription page. During a pause, no charges are made and no tokens are issued. Billing resumes automatically at the end of the pause period.
When are tokens issued?
Tokens are issued at the start of each billing period — immediately on sign-up, and then again each time your subscription renews. The number of tokens matches your plan (2 or 4 per week, or 4 or 8 per month).
What billing methods are accepted?
We accept all major credit and debit cards via Stripe. Subscriptions are charged automatically each period. You can update your payment details via the Stripe billing portal, accessible from your account.
